Link Sharing: Logo/Title/Description Pulling
Apr. 13: As an upgrade/update to our existing link sharing functionality which is part of our Media Wall component, we have made some changes which will bring some immediate relevance and information to all links shared in your community.
When links are now shared on a profile, video, or image, our system will load the link, and try to load a logo/icon, title and description for that link. For example, if you were to add a link to a Yahoo! news article on your profile, our system would retrieve the title, a short description of the news article, and the Yahoo! Logo. This would then be displayed in place of just the URL of the link you're attempting to share.
The importance of this comes from the relevance to the user. A user will now be fully aware of what time of link they are about to visit. This will create a level of trust between your community and it's members, as well as ease the burden on members to explain to others what the link they are sharing covers.
