Tag Cloud Customization
May. 08: Tag clouds have become so popular and visible in communities due to their representation. A tag cloud represents the collective status of a community of thousands of people. While previously we had given the ability for clients to have a tag cloud on an application's page, this cloud was not very customizable. It would include 25 random tags and show visually their weighting among others.
With our newest update comes our Tag Cloud Customization features which will give you the ability to convey to your community the most popular community driven media within time ranges.
For example, your community can now have three tag clouds sitting on the bottom of each community based page, which will show the most popular videos today, yesterday and last week. Immediately a historical representation of your communities activity will become clear.
Some other new features include representing tags in the tag cloud format, or linearly, the time/date range for which to pull tags, limiting the number of tags per cloud, excluding certain tags from the cloud, showing the number of matching media for this tag, as well as the number of different tag sizes.
More features to come soon include tag clouds that represent only older, more established users, which will give a more accurate representation of power-user activity, as well as tag clouds based on certain key demographics such as age groups, gender, or location (country, state, city level).
