Flash 9.x & 10.x Video Player/Uploading Support
Summary
The Adobe Flash plugin for browsers has been propelled strongly by networks such as YouTube, Facebook and other video sharing sites. It brings with it a strong ability to play media, and to process media uploads.
Due to it's incredibly high adoption rate in browsers, it's become the web standard for video playback, and is being more accepted as a powerful option for media uploading, due it's ability for multi-file selection, and progress indicators.
Integration
Our most obvious integration of Flash 9.x and 10.x into your community comes in the form of the JW Player which either streams or progressively downloads videos to the browser for immediate playback. Supporting both these versions offers us a demographic closely pushing the 100% adoption rate.
In our opinion, however, the most innovative use of Flash 9.x and 10.x comes from our media uploading process and experience. When a community member chooses to upload a video or picture, the will be able to do so with up to 10 files at a time, and will get a consistent visual indication of how long is remaining. The page won't need to be refreshed, and the videos and pictures will be available immediately for embedding and sharing.
Result
The result of our support for Flash 9.x and 10.x will be seen with the media that is uploaded and shared within your community. The fewer barriers for creating new content in your community, the greater likelihood that user's will participate.
This content will then be shared more actively since there is more of it. It is very important for your community's growth to bring in as much media as possible, and streamlining the upload process helps this goal dramatically.
