JW Open Source Video Player
Summary
The JW Player has become the standard in web based video players. Developed by Jeroen Wijering, it was initially used by YouTube during their early days of video serving.
Not enough praise can be given to the JW Player, as it is open source, and supports a large JavaScript API for integrating it into your applications, as well as extending it visually to suit your brand or image.
Integration
Clearmix's use of the JW Player is now rampant, as we use it for all user uploaded content in your community. Additionally, it is currently being retrofitted for audio playback and image galleries.
Our integration, due to such great documentation and such an extensive API, has allowed us to offer high customization for each community. This includes branding with a logo, coloring, as well as behavioral changes.
Result
Your community will be using one of the most advanced video players currently available, however it will also be more extensible than required. The styling and behavioral configurations will allow you to tailer your video player to how your community grows, and how they make use of your community.
For example, if your community is about high definition video playback, choose to have the video player show the full screen button. Or else if you community embeds videos significantly on third party websites, change the video's behavior to have it link back to your community when they click on the player.
This type of customization will make your community distinctive, and will allow your users experience to be customized based on their interests.
